Release of the Week
Well it was bound to happen eventually and this week the release of the week is one that comes from outside the walls of rock and metal. Nothing wrong with that of course, I just thought it worth noting.
First up however I would like to give a shoutout to this week’s runner up. This goes to a heavy metal/stoner band from Greece called Nightstalker. Before I had heard it, a friend told me how much the singer sounded like Ozzy and let me tell ya, they were not wrong. Give this one a go if that’s your vibe. Bandcamp Link
Now on to the main event. I’m going to keep this one very brief because, although I like what I like, I don’t feel like I am adequately well versed enough in the world of hip hop to go into too much detail.
If that hasn’t given it away yet then let me announce that this weeks releases of the week title goes to clipping. with their new record ‘Dead Channel Sky’.
I have seen this band labelled as experimental hip hop and I don’t really know what else you would call them other than that. We got some good experimental beats, a really good flow on the rapping and the overall themes and vibe of the album make it feel so vital and bursting. So much technology is involved either in the themes and obviously in the music and beats themselves.
Like I said, I don’t really have the experience and background with this type of music to go into any sort of detail so I will just say that I think it’s great and you should check it out.
Hails!
