Release of the Week!
Short and sweet and maybe even a little late this week because life has been busy, however, there is still a chosen one to be anointed.
Release of the week has been a challenging pick for the first month of the year, I have heard pretty good albums but nothing that I think I will be going back to through the year. However! January has delivered with its final release week.
So without any further delay, the coveted title of Release of the Week goes to Nightmare Fuel by Guts.
Finland has a lot to be proud of when it comes to death metal and Guts are one of latest in a long line of great bands to emerge from the scene there.
I was completely unaware of this band before their 2023 debut album ‘Decay’ came along and smacked me around the head. I was so impressed with it that it made my Top 20 Albums of 2023 list so I had high hopes when I heard that they were back so soon.
This just ticks all the boxes for me. You want riffs? You want blasts? You want sick leads and solos? This has you covered. Seriously, this is 43 minutes of really good quality death metal and one I’m going to no doubt give some consideration when I’m doing my list at the end of the year.
