Release of the Week!
Hey it’s been a little while since I’ve picked a release of the week or found one that I thought was really worthy of mentioning but that changes this week.
That’s because this week, members of Nails, Undeath and Ulthar amongst others decided that they were forming a new band to inflict death metal brutality on us all.
And that’s exactly what this is. I’m talking about the debut album ‘The Calling of Fire’ by Blood Monolith. No wheels are being re-invented here, it’s just really really good quality death metal. You can pick out influences like Cannibal Corpse of course but whilst it’s not doing anything particularly new, it feels fresh and invigorating.
If you’re a fan of more straight ahead forms of death metal then this is one that you should at least check out. I’m looking forward to see where the project goes from here. I’m also quite fond of the artwork by Nick Blinko.
