Albums of the year as chosen by users of the Fediverse - 2000
25 years ago. A quarter of a century. A lot has happened since then but the good music lives on. With that, I asked for your favourite album from the year 2000 for this edition of albums of the year as chosen by users of the Fediverse. Once again there were plentiful responses for which I am grateful. Let’s dig in to the results!
This was a usual one. There is no outright winner for any of the podium places. There is a tie for first place, a tie for second place and everyone other album that received a submission is technically tied for bronze.
So without further ado, the joint winners for the year 2000 are:
Dopethrone by Electric Wizard
&
Clayman by In Flames
Two really good albums. Neither of them were my pick but they definitely would have made by shortlist. Congratulations to these two classics.
Now there was also a tie for the silver medal. This time it’s a tie between four different albums. They are:
The Art of Drowning by AFI
The Sophtware Slump by Grandaddy
Wasp Star by XTC
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Quite a variety of choice there! So as mentioned, no album able to make third place their own, with all the following albums trying to squeeze their way on to the podium for share that spot. The remains albums are as follows:
I Saw It! The Witch Before I Could Only See Sense by Fushitsusha
Gold & Green by OOIOO
Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Daises of the Galaxy by Eels
Upstyledown by 28 Days
All That You Can’t Leave Behind by U2
Relationship of Command by At The Drive-In
666 by Katharsis
Haven by Dark Tranquility
Grand Declaration of War by Mayhem
Midian by Cradle of Filth
A Skeptic’s Universe by Spiral Architect
Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea by PJ Harvey
The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem
13 Tales From Urban Bohemia by The Dandy Warhols
Follow the Reaper by Children of Bodom
Inside by Orphanage
The Sweeney by The Sweeney
if_then_else by The Gathering
Sound by Lukan
The Night by Morphine
Spirit They’re Gone, Spirit They’ve Vanished by Avey Tare and Panda Bear
Razorblade Romance by HIM
So that’s it’s for the year 2000. Thank you to everyone who got involved. What year should we do next?
Hails!
