Albums of the year 1994 - as chosen by users of the Fediverse

This one is slightly later than planned so sorry about that but we are here now, to review the results of the album of the year 1994 vote as chosen by the users of the Fediverse.

A mixed bag in terms of response, some people specifically asked for this year, others said it wasn’t really their period whilst a select few were surprised by how much they loved from this year when delving deeper.

The year seems to have resonated to a certain degree as this has been the year with the most submissions so far.

There was a close race at the top of the leaderboard but in the end there was a winner. By one vote, the most popular choice for 1994s album of the year is The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails.

Second place, putting up a very respectable challenge was Dummy by Portishead.

Whilst these two albums were the clear front runners, there were three albums fighting for the bronze medal, all tied for third place. They are:

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers

Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin

Triple Mania III by Crash Worship

The Holy Bible was my personal choice. I have never listened to Crash Worship so that one will be totally new to me.

Beyond these submissions there were plenty of albums that received at least one vote and deserve a mention too. The rest of the list looks like this:

Balls to Picasso by Bruce Dickinson

Let Love in by Nick Cave

Lifeforms by The Future Sound of London

Monster by R.E.M

World Demise by Obituary

Transylvanian Hunger by Darkthrone

Vitalogy by Pearl Jam

Let’s Go by Rancid

At Action Park by Shellac

Hungry for Stink by L7

Day for Night by The Tragically Hip

Burn my Eyes by Machine Head

Now I’m a Cowboy of The Auteurs

When the Kite String Pops by Acid Bath

Superunknown by Soundgarden

The Fall of Us All by Steve Tibbetts

Sleeps with Angels by Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Amber by Autechre

Stream from the Heavens by Thergothon

If I Don’t Six by Mule

Divine Intervention by Slayer

Pandemonium by Killing Joke

Dookie by Green Day

Split by Lush

Music for the Jilted Generation by The Prodigy

Too High to Die by Meat Puppets

Mellow Gold by Beck

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys

Looks like a good year to me.

Hails!
