Album Ranking: Soul Asylum
Well it’s been a little while since I’ve done an album ranking post so I thought it’s time to get back on that train.
I will do my Iron Maiden one shortly. I know the rough order but I need to wait for a day when I have the energy to defend my self!
Back to the matter at hand, Soul Asylum are a band I’ve only really ever knew by name apart from Runaway Train because you can’t not know that song.
I’ve heard people say good things about their early stuff as well as their most popular mid nineties stuff so I decided to get familiar. I also didn’t know that they were still around and regularly releasing albums.
I’m also pleased to see that they’re not too self indulgent and that their later albums are still good, manageable lengths.
Overall I enjoyed my time with the band, they haven’t become one of my favourite bands and I don’t know that I’ll be rushing back to any of the albums any time soon but I’m glad to have filled a gap in my musical knowledge.
So here is my ranking of the Soul Asylum studio albums from least favourite to favourite:
Hurry Up and Wait
Change of Fortune
Delayed Reaction
Silver Lining
Slowly But Shirley
Grave Dancers Union
Candy From a Stranger
Let Your Dim Light Shine
Say What You Will…
And the Horse They Rode In On

While You Were Out
Hails!
